Schooling dates back to February 1823 when James Kemp taught Maori boys in a barn at the Kerikeri Mission station. By 1824 a building designed to be used both as school and chapel had been built.. Education today is well catered for with both public & private schools for all ages, & a campus of NorthTec at the top of the Stone Store hill.

 

 

NorthTec’s Kerikeri campus is well known for its Arts programme, which is tutored by nationally and internationally recognised artists including ceramic artist Richard Parker, master painter Scott McFarlane and master printmaker Mark Graver.
 


 

Kerikeri High School is a Year 7 to 13, Decile 7, state secondary school with approximately 1400 day students and 150 staff.

 

Springbank School is a co-educational private school with over 200 primary and secondary students. Springbank was established in 1996 and also operates a Preschool for children under five.
